They should visit Callahan Auto. Heard their new brake pad division is gonna revolutionize the industry.

That's Sandusky.

Believe it or not, a few years ago I was commissioned to write an automotive industry white paper that explored how Tommy Callahan could have leveraged advanced data analytics and other BI tools to revolutionize the brake category.

LOL How could I forget Sandusky. What was Cuyahoga Falls? Is that where his ladies parents were from?

Not too many years ago (in my lifetime and SBH's), a Division 1 basketball team staying in Cuyahoga Falls would have been big news.

There's a very nice hotel there (owned by an Ohio alum) as well as several good restaurants and pubs overlooking the river. Completely new environment, lots of activity. The only candy store I know of that still sells Clark Bars.

Back in the day, the only reason to visit "downtown" Cuyahoga Falls was to see Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Of course, I realize Alan's post deals with the historical lack of diversity of "Caucasian Falls." That hasn't changed all that much. BTW, our squad is a lot more diverse than Akron or Kent's.

That Sheraton right on the water is a nice hotel especially if you get a room overlooking the falls. And back in the day, no elementary school experience was complete, at least for those of us on the east side of Akron, without a field trip to the Lawson's bakery in Cuyahoga Falls.

Per SBH's post, here's a very interesting article with demographic data on Cuyahoga Falls.

Yes, this was actually part of one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a movie. The lady (Michelle Brock) is trying to get home. She goes to an airport and asks about a ticket to Cuyahoga Falls. The gate agent, standing in front of a sign that signs Columbus like you would expect at a gate, says "yeah that is going thru Columbus, let me see if I can get a ticket for you." So they expect us to believe that:

1 - Sandusky, OH has a commercial passenger airport.
2 - Cuyahoga Falls, OH has a commercial passenger airport.
3 - That someone would go to the airport to make this flight, without a ticket, instead of just drive the 80 miles.
4 - That the flight would route thru Columbus.
5 - That you walk up to a gate and inquire about a ticket with no regard for getting thru security without possessing a ticket.

Of course growing up I did not notice it but re-watching as an adult it was very laughable.

It's extremely funny for anyone who lives in Ohio or is from the Midwest. I have to think that was partly an inside joke on set. Like, yeah, those people will get this is ridiculous, but someone in Arizona probably won't.

Depending what year the movie was set in, there was a very real possibility you could buy a ticket at the counter. Was it the Sandusky airport of Toledo? Not far fetched that you could fly from Toledo to Columbus to Akron-Canton which is only 18 miles from Cuyahoga Falls straight up 77/Route 8. Very plausible if you don't have a car. Talk about thread drift. Will winter every end?

How dare you defend this as even remotely plausible, and it calls into question your defense of literally anything you've defended in the past or will in the future.

The movie was 1995. No way you'd stroll up to the gate to inquire about a ticket. She lives in Sandusky, not exactly the public transport capital of the world and she obviously has the financial means to afford her own vehicle given she is taking 15 minute flights on a whim.

I can maybe give you the Toledo airport idea, though she happened to bump into 2 other characters at the same airport. Quite a coincidence if it isn't the local city. But she said a ticket to Cuyahoga Falls, not Akron. And now we are taking a 30 minute cab ride after landing? The thought of going thru the trouble of flying for this quick and easy drive is just getting more ridiculous.

Slow day at work for both of us. Prior to 2001, I actually purchased tickets at the counter in several very small airports in Minnesota and Illinois and flew no more than 75 to 100 miles, but for discussion sake, what is the name of this movie? Sounds like I might want to watch it. :)

It's not really the distance of the flights that are ridiculous but the size of the cities these supposed airports have commercials airlines in. You can fly from Dayton to CVG and that's less than 80 miles - I've been told this is often a connecting flight for some reason. But flying a connecting flight from Sandusky to Columbus to Cuyahoga Falls is downright insane and hilarious.

Siberia, here we come! Is this a record? Has an official game thread ever been sent to the cold wasteland?

The next time you're in a big airport, read the flight boards. Here's one for you - Wilmington, NC to Charleston, SC through Charlotte, NC. Head west to fly back south and east. Happens all the time.

I'm a little curious on what the arrangement is to play at Arkansas State.

Bus ride would be like 10 hours. Or take a connecting flight from CMH to MEM and then a one hour bus ride. That had to be an ESPN made for TV "event."

The game at APSU made a little more sense...Southwest has non-stop from CMH to Nashville. I took it before. From the time the plane left the ground in Columbus until it touched down in Nashville in good weather was 39 minutes in the air. They didn't even bring out drinks. But it did take 45 minutes to get the luggage.

Looking forward to my return to Kent for the second in-person viewing of the Bobcats this week--usually the Akron & KSU games are weeks apart>

I have not been a good luck charm in Kent but hoping continued tough defense will result in the win tonight...GO BOBCATS--Smoke KENT--Knock the Flashes on their ashes.....

For the second straight game, the TV play-by-play announcer is impressed with Hadaway's left-handed touch around the basket. Reghi Tuesday night and the CBSSN guy tonight. I doubt they'd be so impressed if they were aware that he is a southpaw.

Shareef with 5 assists and 4 steals at 14:44 of 2nd half. At least 3 assists, off the top of my head, set up open look from 3. Plus 10 points.

Edit: Cornette, color man on CBSSN, must be reading BA during commercial.

Cornette, after Hadaway gets clobbered but no foul call: "They're letting them play". Fouls at time? Ohio 10, Kent 3. More accurately, they're letting one team play.

Freeman looked impressive off the bench for Kent. However, he's still the 2nd best Freeman Ohio faced on its 2-game road trip to NE Ohio.

I challenge any BA poster that can find a game where more than 6 left-handed shooters attempted a 3-pt shot (Hunter, Hadaway, Davis, Santiago, Sullinger, Bass). Beer on me on my next visit to Court St.

Ohio with 16 assists. But the assist on Ohio's biggest basket of the game, Hunter's late 3 pointer, belongs to Kent's Freeman on a block of Brown's floater.

I'm not sure I'm not ready for Sheldon to start getting more minutes and Brown fewer. Defense keeping me from being all in on the idea.
