Boals answered questions in between Elite 8 games and said "some exciting news" was coming the next few weeks. I don't think Luke would be that.

"some exciting news" coming in the next few weeks is...well...not that exciting - It's what coaches say whatever the news may be...

I also highly doubt that Frazier is somehow part of that news...though if he does get a scholly good for him - and better if he can deliver...

That would be a very nice surprise!

Agreed. If a scholly happens to open up - Frazier isn't out of the question but also could be rewarded to Ben Estis if he happens to be very good coming in as a preferred walk-on.

Assuming that we will honor 13 scholarships, Granger leaving opens the door for one opportunity. That could be Vander Plas returning, Frazier getting on scholarship, or a recruit or transfer TBA.

Would be very interesting to see what recruit / transfer TBA we would get. Shame Granger is leaving, but totally understand why. Ran into him during High Fest this past weekend. Hilarious guy!

McDay departing would open up another scholarship, right?

We signed four freshmen with the belief that four players would be departing due to expired eligibility/graduation (Carter, Schmock, Wilson, BVP). Carter and Schmock are definitely gone. Wilson is returning, so that means that someone else must leave (McDay? I believe at this point it's a foregone conclusion). Granger leaving opens the door for BVP, if he wants. So instead of the four above, it's Carter, Schmock, McDay, and Granger leaving, with the four freshmen coming in to replace them.

Either Vander Plas or Frazier is still an odd man out.

I cannot imagine Frazier is the "great news" that Boals has. Kid was a Dayton recruit and perhaps he will be a piece but the fact that Tenerowicz played more than him isn't a good thing. Great news could be the addition of a big-time transfer or having BVP stay. Imagine rolling out a starting lineup of Sears, AJ Brown, Miles Brown, BVP and Wilson with Clayton, Ezuma, Elmore James and Roderick coming off the bench? Whoa!

Coach didn't say "great" news. He said there would be "some news" over the next few weeks.

Does the "some news" have anything to do with BVP entering the portal?

Maybe. I'm assuming potential negotiations with another athlete in the portal.

Larry Hunter once said Gary Trent had "some news" once too. Doesn't make it a good thing.

I'm not pretending to know that it is or isn't. Just saying. The "news" could be that BVP accepted his national academic all-American of the year award, combined with his masters degree from Ohio and will be continuing his basketball career at a P5 school. I mean, it's definitely news.

Frazier will be a huge distributor to the bobcats next season. My guess would be that he is getting a scholarship soon. Former high school player of the year and a crazy athlete. I don’t understand why he would come here to become a walk-on.

I really hope you're right but I have to ask, if he's such a crazy athlete and great player how did he not play for us this season? If he was such a difference maker I would imagine he would have been able to help us get over that hump. Instead he rode the pine. Once again, I hope you're right and we've found the next Travis Wilkins but I am not putting my eggs into the basket until I see some proof.
