I’d have to see that contract. No offense to your sources.

You can get around the NIL thing. For example, if you are a Kentucky (or Dayton) basketball player, they can wait to pay you until you appear at a BBQ in a Bahamas Tournament. For Rourke, they will have him make some Instagram posts while he is in Canada and then pay him while he's there. The players are here on student VISAs not work VISAs. I aslo think Kurtis may be marrying a US girl which would make him a US citizen and allowed to be paid.

Ted, there is NO automatic citizenship when a Canadian marries a U.S. citizen. In fact it’s not even automatic permanent residency with getting married.

I heard just the ending of a radio conversation yesterday about how international college athletes may not be eligible for NIL $. It was centered on Purdue big man Zach Edey and how Purdue scheduled a game this season in Canada to help accommodate him when it came to endorsement money. Did not get all of the details but it made me wonder if Rourke is able to get NIL $ under these circumstances.

Of all things the NCAA didn't do, THAT is where they decided to draw the line? Prevent Canadians from benefitting from their NIL? LOL Okayyyyyy

Oh no it’s called federal labor and immigration laws. Has zero to do with the NCAA

Had no idea, but 5 mins of going down rabbit holes and I can see why they haven’t made any changes yet.

Just opens up a massive can of warms having to legally call these kids employees. Still operating under a guise of student-athletes not athletes-who-occasionally-attend-classes-but-will-probably-transfer-in-9-months-anyway students .

“Current NCAA NIL policy allows student-athletes to receive compensation from marketing themselves. International students, however, cannot enter into NIL deals because NIL deals are considered off-campus employment. In the United States, international students can only work on campus under their student visa status.“

I find it downright hilarious looking at some of the posts in this thread that didn't age very well in a very short period of time. Anyone still find it an unfavorable decision for Rourke to go to Indiana now??? I can assure you he certainly knows he 100% made the right one. All those previous detractors about IU haven't mattered for squat this year. The 4OT's needed to beat Akron last year, the lack of bowls, the Hoosiers' record vs other Big Ten schools, IU football being an afterthought to IU hoops. Now - Indiana football is THE story of college football this season! They're undefeated, all their home games are sold out for the rest of the season, they're in the Top-10, they've hosted College Gameday, and they're in contention for the College Football Playoffs entering November. This season has been a movie script story for Indiana football and it's not over! And Rourke is right in the center of much of it. He absolutely made the right decision to go to Indiana, no matter what opinion anyone had otherwise. And that is 100% a fact.

It's 100 percent the right decision based on the criteria you supply. That doesn't make it a "fact."

You're only kidding yourself if you disagree with that "fact." And that comment alone is also a fact.

You are totally not understanding the difference between a fact and an opinion. You had a perspective that his transfer was the right decision. You have based your opinion on what has occurred since the start of the season. On the other hand, a fact is 2+2= 4. 9x6= 54. These are FACTS. Your "opinion" has played out as "correct" based on a series of events that played out.

You obviously don’t know what a “fact” is.

We had Rourke and couldn't win a conference championship. We suck.
Personally I am very happy Rourke went to Indiana and hope they win a National Championship.

Actually, we would've won it if he hadn't gotten hurt. I do agree with the rest of the sentiment.

Kurtis is definitely getting NIL money, here are his confirmed deals. If they beat Ohio State you can add another 500k.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Rourke may have been playing the season on a re-torn ACL.

Oh man. He's gonna drop like a rock in the draft.

That guy with the funny hair whose name escapes me at the moment had him as the #6 QB in the draft.
