The MAC is quite literally the only stable conference.

And as far as "stagnate" goes, they just added UMASS.

So they've lost ONE team, amongst this vast sea of changes... what are you two even yappin about?

Should they link up with the ACC? What are our options? SEC incoming?

BobcatLove and his 9 different accounts all say the stay stupid shit daily, and never have any intelligent thoughts or plans behind them.

Dickwad, weren’t you one of the clowns that asked me what I would do different, and I gave you the skeleton of a world class strategic plan in about 5 minutes? Again, I’m not paid to do this. I just have a better strategic viewpoint than anyone on this board and/or in Athens. You should feel lucky I even respond to you. Also, I like when a topic comes up and you toss out “ok we can just join the Big 10….” like you are some kind of difference maker. Loser!

The problem with that stability is that eventually it's gonna catch up to them - go ask the PAC 12 about just sticking to your guns instead of being more aggressive in the realignment world. The MAC product is stale in both football and basketball, you can't argue that. Maybe NIU is the only defector, maybe not. We do know that both Buffalo and Toledo have explored other options. Why shouldn't Ohio and Miami do the same just to see what's out there? Unless the MAC has some grand plan to get more money out of ESPN/CBS when they go to renegotiate in 2026-27, then it's going to be the same stuff next time around.

I would be surprised if Ohio and Miami aren't basically aware of what options would be available and think they are not good options.

Alright, they'll join Conference USA because the Sun Belt & American are another rung up on the ladder. MAC is last in the FBS world and no one is joining unless they are desperate (UMASS) or moving up (Buffalo).

We told you for 15 years Ohio and the MAC would be left behind by the professionalization of college sports. How are all of you still trying to find an escape hatch? And the hatch leads to Sam Houston State? This was all preordained.

If that's truly the case, I say bring on the Playoffs.

15 years ago I was bitching and complaining about the same issues so that we WOULD NOT get left behind...and all the while being called a kook and a radical. Everything I said would happen...has happened. Because when you have bad leadership (Starts with Mike Dewine and this horrendous Board of Trustees he has appointed), you better be ready for bad results. Frankly, it's now bleeding over to the quality (or lack thereof) of your degree.

Honestly, right now I would sleep sweet dreams for Sam Houston State or Tarleton State over the garbage that has become Jon Steinbrecher and Kent State.

If you think Ohio and Miami have reviewed strategic alternatives, you are giving our leadership far too much credit. It's about high time we start buying our Ohio State or Cincinnati gear, because this grease fire is about to completely consume things.

If your employer or client thinks less of you today than they did yesterday, or a year ago, it is a refection of your ability and aptitude (or lack thereof) not the state of Ohio's athletic department or the MAC and its leadership (or lack thereof).

I think you are all giving conferences like the Sun Belt and C-USA way too much credit. There are certainly metrics that would support saying the MAC is ahead of the Sun Belt.

I certainly wouldn't have a fear of competing in any of the other G5 leagues but some of them want a deeper financial commitment. PAC-12 wants 60 million spent on the budget from what I understand. AAC I thought was 40 million. The SBC from my perspective is the best deal for a smaller budget and overall the best football.

A MAC with 8 or 9 teams with it is better than far-flung CUSA. In that world Western Kentucky is likely in the Sun Belt at that point. A MAC that can stay together at 12 is perfectly fine but that might only work until 2030 or so.

We might as well start playing Swarthmore, Marietta, St. Copious, or Tufts at that point......

The thing the Sun Belt has going for it is schools with a common identity, something the MAC probably doesn't. They want football to be their #1, they want easy travel and they want more Saturday games. I don't think C-USA is ahead of the MAC but they do have one big fat private outlier program that brings in a lot of dollars that the MAC can't.

So who’s rooting for NIU against Fresno State in the bowl game this afternoon. Not me. Only time I root against the MAC is under similar circumstances. The Huskies tried to leave the MAC to do their business years ago. Probably end up regretting it this time too.

Getting NIU off our payroll is a good thing. It opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities

Well, hold the phone, I read an article online yesterday, can't find it now, or I'd post the link, that said that NIU might be having second thoughts, and had postponed what was previously reported as an imminent decision to early 2025. So, to paraphrase RMN, we might have NIU to kick around a little longer.

I certainly rooted for NIU because Fresno had won 5 bowls in a row and was tied with Ohio for nations 2nd longest bowl winning streak going into this year.

Minnesota 7 (Jan 3rd vs. Virginia Tech)
Ohio 6
Duke 5 (Jan 2nd vs. Ole Miss)
Georgia 5 (Jan 1st vs. Notre Dame)

Ohio then could have the nations longest bowl winning streak, tied for the longest bowl winning streak or tied for the second longest bowl winning streak depending on the outcome of these games.

Most metrics place the Sun Belt of recent years far ahead of the MAC, but CUSA is below the MAC.

I had an NFL game on in the background last week and heard an announcer say that he had asked a head coach about the origin of a recent play. The coach told him he'd seen it during a Wednesday night MACtion game.
