Not to contribute to thread drift, but did anyone else on this thread ever take an athletic officiating class, or any other class, from the legendary Jack Rhoads? If so, what word or phrase first comes to mind when you think of him? Fun but demanding class...Coach Hunter did not mail it in teaching it. Of course he didn't mail it in. He was tutored by Jim Snyder. Coaching at its core is teaching. Just makes sense that the good coaches who demanded much of their players were also good teachers who demanded much of their students. This was also back in the old school times of STUDENT athletes where some semblance of academics was still considered important.
