I'd like to see Hadaway ditch the 3's and start driving to the hole. I know he can knock them down but we have had other shooters step up since the start of the season and don't need him taking those as much. He's very athletic and can get to the rim and draw fouls. That would help this team more than him shooting 1-3 from deep.

Agreed and I think this can be said about a lot of guys. Too many 3's from players who aren't efficient enough at it from specific spots on the floor and in general.

I don't think Hadaway should stop. It's not like he's taking 10 a game. He takes a couple a game. If he hits a couple, he'll probably take a few more. I think it's going to be a focus in the offseason to get his percentage up. If he's a greater weapon outside the arc, it will create opportunities to drive with the ball and cut without it, which plays to his strength. I'm bullish on his future as a major offensive weapon. i think we've only seen flashes so far.

That's the thing, he doesn't need to be a weapon outside the arc. We already have one big man who offers that. We need more help inside. He's only hit 2 total since the first Kent game in 13 attempts.

His shot chart doesn't show any hot spots behind the arc, either. He's below 30% across the board. A 3PA here and there is fine, but he's more efficient for us down low. Which again, where we need him most.

100% agree you can't take away the green light from Hadaway. There were people saying the same thing about Clayton & BVP early in their careers too. He's not forcing threes. Shooting 1-2 a game when open means a defender has to close out and opens up things for him to drive or find a teammate.

I expect his make % to increase as he gets more confident and works on his shot in the coming years. Telling him he can't shoot a 3 now will destroy confidence and then the scout will be evolve to never close out on him.

Yes, that's what he's doing and that's what I'm advocating he keep doing. He doesn't camp out there and he shouldn't.

The difference between BVP and Clayton/Hadaway, is BVP was more accomplished and balanced offensively from sophomore year on. No one wants AJC abandoning the 3, but it'd nice if his 3PA output didn't more than double his 2PA output. This year alone he's only made 4 more 3PA's (with 60 more attempts) than 2PA's. He'd probably average around 15-16ppg with a BVP approach.

As for Hadaway, he doesn't even have a spot around the arc he's highly efficient from. It doesn't appear to be a prospective strength. We're almost through 2 seasons and he's hit 15 total. BVP and Clayton after two years connected on 96 and 70 for comparison. I'm not sure it needs to be worked more into his game.

Don't tell Jerry86 that....Jimmy C is his buddy and the greatest basketball coach in Ohio history.

According to him.

Kindly show me where I said JC was greatest OU coach in history.

The FACT you know sooooo little about college basketball does make me chuckle often. Your reactions to game after game suggests someone in maybe the 7th grade.

Now if we want to make comments on coaches we can ... you worship Boals, despise Saul, hate JC and love Groce.

And FYI, Groce at 53 percent winning MAC games at Ohio is mediocre by anyone's standards.

Jerry...time to take the L on this one and just quietly move on. You've been banging that 53% MAC Groce winning percentage for quite some time. Do yourself a favor and look up Jimmy C's career record in the NCAA and NIT. Once you see his career winning % in these tournaments, you might stop sending those Christmas fruit baskets to the Christian household every year.

I'll tell you what moron. Kindly show me where I said JC was the best Ohio coach and I'll send you a check for 5,000.00. Put up or shut up. And if you continue to want to compare Groce and JC we can. Groce lasted how long in Champaign? 5 years, right? JC was at BC for what, 7 years? I imagine JC is more comfortable as far as retirement than Groce.

I think it is YOU who needs to take the "L" here. FACTS do matter. Sadly, you continue with your infantile drivel here. Maybe go back to the IJ thread and see if you can get it to 10 pages.

Be careful. Mike Lindell once offered $5M to someone who could prove him wrong...and now he's got to pay it!

JC’s record at BC: 78-132, one NIT first round appearance.
Groce’s record at Illinois: 95-75; one round of 32, NIT first round, NIT second round, NIT Quarterfinal.

Who cares if JC was at BC longer, he flat out sucked in comparison.

You beat me to it with the records. Jerry must have the trouble with his eyesight, because even Stevie Wonder can see Groce has had a more successful coaching career than Jimmy C. But remember FJC31....according to Jerry....Jimmy C has the better retirement plan....hahaha. Because ya know....Jerry has a direct line to Jimmy C's 401k plan.

I'm not sure how many "L's" Jerry can take in one week, but add this doozy to the list comparing Groce record at Illinois vs Jimmy C at Boston College. My god...in five years at Illinois...Groce won 1 NCAA tournament game and 3 NIT games. Meanwhile over a seven year stretch at BC, Jimmy C won 27% of his conference games. That Jimmy C can coach!!! Just ask Treg Setty.
