Sorry, I cannot find the original article that I read on this topic from the AP. However, they voted to unionize today. The article was on the trickle down effect, which it acknowledged will be years down the road. However, many interesting bits of information. As we all know, Dartmouth (like Northwestern, ND, USC, etc;) are private and these rulings do not apply to state schools, but the competion if this applies to the country's largest or more competitive private schools will have a ripple effect.

What Dartmouth basketball players are asking for is $20 and hour and healthcare (thought that was interesting), what is also interesting, Dartmouth states they are non-scholarship, so they are no different than any other group on campus, from the band, choir, drama. Since this ruling, Dartmouth has other student groups exploring the path to unionization. So extend that to OHIO, if the 110 are also employees, what happens to that organization? With the $20 an hour and health care is a start you can figure the price this would cost. Keep in mind, there would be no more 20 hour limit if athletes are employed, travel time, and study time would all count. Also interesting Dartmouth argument in this case actually would support any student group to being able to Unionize.
I am offering NO OPINION here, just tossing a few interesting breaking facts.
