Did I hear Marty correctly yesterday? We are just now hearing the story about Sheldon being blind last year and the court was blurry to him for his entire freshman season? He’s in contact lenses now. Are there no eye doctors in the Athens/Columbus area? How was this not attempted to be fixed his freshman year? Make it make sense.

Marty…thanks for reporting on this. First I’ve heard of it. Now can you tell us why Bahamas Ezuma has been in street clothes for the last two seasons? You seem to be the only one close to the program who digs for info.

Several eye doctor practices in Athens. Had my cataracts removed there a few years ago. Story doesn't make sense, unless, maybe, he didn't report the problem last year.

Though this might indicate why the kid literally couldn't hit the backboard on 3s last year and is shooting 54% this year.

His free throws on the other hand remain a total mystery...

Everyone thought it was weird when he went to O'bleness for his vision issues, and they gave him a shot of cortisone in his knee and put his finger in a splint. Holistic.

Not that shocking to me. Wearing glasses doesn't mean you're blind. I didn't get glasses until I was about 18 or 19.

I played sports all through high school and in college. I'm near sighted and basically just can't *clearly* see anything that was 20-25ft away. I can still see it. It's just like looking through a dirty window. It's there. It's just in SD. I couldn't drive at night. So I didn't. Couldn't see a chalk board in a lecture hall, so I sat close. It's easy to avoid the things you have trouble with, until the problem gets worse.

Depth perception probably started to become more strained. As it did with me.

Good on him for getting help.

Who'd you play for at what sports?

You guys act like every kid grows up with regular doctor visits and healthcare screenings.

This sort of thing is common. Human beings are incredibly adaptable; sometimes, that means we don't know how bad something has gotten. Vision gets a little worse, we squint or move our head to adjust. It gets a little worse, we make another adjustment, and so on. Eventually, we don't even remember what "good" vision was and we're unaware there's a problem. I'd wager nearly everyone on this board has gone through something similar- possibly without knowing it.

I also would like to point out Cecutti said he had the same thing with one of his players. It happens.

I would further like to point out it was Sam who reported it on air and Marty expanded on it.

Speaking of holistic, there is no truth to the rumor if your new primary care doctor is a D.O. instead of an M.D., they will make you eat roots and tree bark instead of using modern medicine.

Certainly the Sheldon family from Dublin, Ohio, did. Somewhat surprised we don't routinely screen players' vision when they join the program. Could explain the whole Ivo thing.

More so, I believe both parents are educators.
