I agree! Just saying what some others say.
Bottom line for us…3 teams played with winning records. UGH!

ISU, BTW, has been doing quite well since their whipping in Athens with victories over two teams ranked #17 at the time they played them -- MOFFLA (not MOFO) and UNC. With a 5-2 conference record they are in a 4-way to for second behind Texas.

A guide on how to get to 14,000 posts:

1. replies on the hour in every thread (usually multiple replies) with many involving misinformation. Georgia Tech beat Miami and UNC. Ohio did not beat Ga Tech. Bowling Green did. Ohio beat Iowa St. Iowa St. did not beat Miami or UNC. And I'm not sure a 10-7 loss can be labeled a whipping.

2. the useless and adolescent-like "+1" or, even more childish, the occasional "+1,000,000".

Keep it coming OCF. You might hit 14,000 before the week's over.

You are correct, it was late at night, and I mixed up how the team BG beat (Georgia Tech) has done versus how ISU has done. However, the point stands that ISU has done very well having beaten BYU, Baylor, TCU and OSU-south. I will correct my original post. I appreciate the correction.

Solid win. Defense gave up 2 massive TDs on blown coverages. Take those out and it was another dominating performance. Thompson & Houston still just incredible to watch.

Offense was better, opened it up a bit more. Hopefully that continues next week and into a bowl game.

Can't believe how good Miami has been this season. Ass hats.

I see that Ohio was penalized 8 times for 85 yards. I think 35 of those came on one of CMU's scoring drives. At least two of the personal fouls were beyond stupd and were downright damaging.

When I think of team discipline, I hearken back to the Grobe years. He preached and practiced discipline.

Look guys, I am one of the lucky posters here. I was actually at OU forthe one and only MAC Championship. I have. Since then, seen the good, bad, and ugly of OHIO football. All that time waiting for one more Championship before leaving this Earth. If there ever was a year…with a weak schedule and one league must win…Miami…which we failed. So, yes it is frustrating and disappointing that we couldn’t get it done again this year. I guess Bo was right. We can play football until hell freezes over and we will never win a second MACC. That appears to be the reality of it. I really hope we can change that reality. I will keep buying season tickets and attending games as long as I can hoping for that elusive Championship year!

I get it. We're disappointed that they wasted a prime opportunity to end their MAC Championship drought, their offense regressed and we still have questions about Albin as head coach...

But, they're also still in contention for back-to-back 10-win seasons and can earn another bowl victory. The team is fighting hard and have represented our university well. Get out of here with some of the negativity!

You must be a newer graduate because surely those of us who have been through this charade would not make this comment. The Big 0-Fer in title games and only 2 appearances in the last 10 years (BG has three in that span by the way) should make you strive for more. Sure they represent the university well. Sure they play hard. No one is debating that. But it's ok for fans to want more and to be disappointed that their team gets to a 7 out of 10 and never gets any higher.

Some of us actually watched the game and didn't google the box score at the end.

We've talked about this a dozen times... some are just happy to be here, some are just stoked we're not as bad as we could be, some are elated just to see 8 wins. Some people don't have expectations. They don't watch games. They watch the one bowl game and are mad at anyone who had an opinion throughout the season, bc you know what dadgummit... they could be as bad as they were when my parents were in college.

We're 8-3 - and that's fantastic - I'm thrilled - jazzed even - I might even get shirt - but we're damn lucky because this offense has regressed historically. That's not being negative, that's being observant. We should be undefeated. We've only played 3 .500 teams. At minimum we should be 10-1. Its okay to have expectations! You'll be okay if you expect a senior laden team to improve weekly!

Many of us are capable of watching objectively and seeing the same things that have plagued us all year continue. And THAT, is the issue. Only now we have one of the best rosters in school history that can overcome. What happens when you don't have 2 grad students at LB to cause havoc? What happens when you don't have (16? 17?) senior+ starters who can gut out some tough wins?

I'm sorry your delicate sensibilities have been rattled by myself and others calling out these clear issues, constant false starts, this slow lackadaisical scheme and the fact we had a chance to slam the door and instead ran three plays directly into the pile and punted. That's the story of the offense all year.

It took some cirque du soleil stuff from Thompson to shut the QB down on 4th down to finally put it away. If he doesn't back flip over the line like American Ninja Warrior... who knows?

Just getting bye and not being as bad as we were in 1973 isn't how I want to be a fan of any team. We should ALL have expectations, we should expect better.

One thing that puzzled me last night was our kikoff strategy. On the opening kickoff and the the one after our first FG we kicked deep and held CMU to its own 19 and its 22. They didn't score on either drive. But then we kicked the rest of our kickoffs short, giving CMU much better field position: its 33, its 40, its 36, its 47, and its 39. Three of these possessions resulted in TDs. Anybody know why the strategy changed? With the field position they were getting we would have been better off kicking it out of bounds.

During the post game presser, someone asked a question mentioning "Kurtis's last game in Peden".

Correct me if I am wrong, but he does have another year of eligibility - correct?

He's as likely to be playing at OU next season as I am. Probably less.

For the record we have won five MAC football championships - 1953, 1960, 1963, 1967 & 1968. I was there for the last two. The Bo Schembechler quote actually happened after the 1967 season. We had lost to Kent State who had used an ineligible player (Ted Chester) who caught a TD pass against us. With the forfeit we became co-champs - thus the Bo quote. We beat Bo 24-7 in ‘68; at the end of the season he was off to Ann Arbor.

The point is we haven’t won a championship for 55 years. Thanks for giving the newbies more details about Bo and his comments and the Ohio 1960s championships. I do think Bo’s comments were related to future championships.

I am 81 and I have seen , in person , our Bobcats win 3 {three} MAC championships 1n 1960,1962, and 1968. The 1960 and 1968 teams were undefeated. It pains me to think Ohio has gone 55 years without a MACC. I just want to get another before I pass on to the next dimension.
One other thought. Coach Bill Hess would never have had players losing it and almost letting the opponent take the game due to a lack of discipline.

I've watched almost every Ohio football game that has aired since attending OU from 2009-2013. I love this team and desperately want them to win a MAC Championship.

Just because I decided not to trash them following a 14-point win doesn't mean that I don't "watch the games." In fact, I traveled to watch them several times this season which is more than the overwhelming majority of Bobcats fans can claim.

I have high expectations for this program but am also realistic. They blew a prime opportunity this year but we've known that for a few weeks now. Nothing that happened last night changed anything. We're all disappointed that they fell short of their goal of winning a MAC Championship but many of us have the ability to move on and refrain from constantly complaining about every little thing that goes wrong.

Graduated in 2013. I know the drill and I'm just as disappointed as everyone else but shared that disappointment two weeks ago, not last night. It was clear then that Miami wasn't going to lose 2 of their final 3 games.

I remember losing MAC Championship Games against CMU, NIU, WMU, and last year against Toledo. I remember getting frustrated at Frank Solich's shortcomings and wanting more.

I also know about the struggles before Solich came to Ohio and know how important back-to-back 10 win seasons would be for this program.

I'm not in "MAC Championship or Bust" mode. Going 10-3 with a bowl win still means something to me. Doesn't take the pain away of falling short in the MAC East but I'm not going to continue dwelling about it for weeks.

So, you think Bo put a curse on us with that Hell-freezing-over comment? At the time it was widely interpreted as referring to us not deserving the championship because we backed in due to the KSU forfeit. Now, I suppose, it could have two meanings -- an immediate and a prophetic one.

Bo made that comment in 1967 after we backed into a co-championship due to a forfeit - he was upset that we were co-champs because of the forfeit. We won our last championship the next season (1968) so yes, we have won a championship since he said that. Unfortunately we haven’t won another in the 55 years since.
