Hi, all � I�m editor of the Athens County Independent, an nonprofit digital newsroom here in Athens. I know there�s a lot of interest in coverage of OU sports as well as local high school sports, and I�d love to be able to provide it. However, we don�t currently have the budget to support a sportswriter (or even stringers). A member of Bobcat Attack suggested that I reach out to y�all to gauge interest in supporting sports coverage in the Independent, so here I am. Thanks in advance for your input!

I appreciate you reaching out. That�s awesome you�re even considering it. Though it appears to be cost prohibitive. I think our best shot is some sort of student run scenario in exchange for credits, small stipend.

I pay $2/month for The Athletic.

I think I might pay $10ish per month. $100 per year for better coverage depending on depth and frequency of course.

We already have the occasional reporter speaking up on YouTube during weekly pressers - would coverage go beyond that?

I agree. I would be willing to pay something like $10 a month. If enough folks would do that, it would add up to real money.
