Notre Dame, Ind. - Juli Accurso was victorious in the 3000 meter run invitational on the second day of the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame. The sophomore set a school record and also broke the mark for fastest time ever run in the 3k by a Mid-American Conference female student-athlete.

Accurso's time of 9:21.89 not only broke Annie Beecham's previous school record in the event by almost 11 seconds, but obliterated her career best by 1:18. It was the 26th fastest time in the 3k this season by a Division I female student-athlete.

The Bobcats turned in multiple strong performances during the distance events. Melissa Thompson ran a season-best 4:55.74 to place sixth in the mile. Emily Pifer ran a season-best 10:12.45 in the 3k while teammate Ashley Waddington had the best run of her career (10:29.22) by almost a full eight seconds.

In the lone field event of the day, three Bobcats competed in the shot put. Donyelle Brown and Janiece Rose each threw, 12.72 meters, which tied a personal best for Rose. Kristen Mason had a throw of 12.22 meters.

In the 800, Brittany Tyree attained a personal best time of 2:16.57, shaving almost three second off her previous best. Hope McCarty also had a personal best run of 2:17.54 in the same event. Alexis Geiger ran a 27.67 in her first try at the 200 this indoor season.

The 4x4 relay squad of Kiley Mathews, McCarty, Courtney Weiss and Delaney Bolger ran their best time in the event this winter by five-tenths of a second.

Next weekend, Ohio will compete in the Hoosier Hills event at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

That's incredible.  A 1:18 PR in a 3K.  Way to go, Julie.
