We're roughly halfway through the 24-25 season so I thought I'd put together a post ranking MAC players performances, All-MAC style, but based solely on advanced statistics. (i.e. with zero regard to counting stats like points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks).

Why? Because advanced stats do a better (not perfect) job at identifying players skill and impact on the court while normalizing for volume/usage, tempo and playing time.

I'm using Torvik's site, with the following stats:
PRPG!: Points over Replacement Player per adjusted Game at that usage
D-PRPG!: Defensive PRPG!
BPM: Box Plus-Minus
OBPM: Offensive Box Plus-Minus
DBPM: Defensive Box Plus-Minus

PRPG and D-PRPG are very similar to WAR (Wins Above Replacement) if you follow advanced baseball stats, and the other 3 attempt to quantify how well your team plays when you're on the floor via plus-minus.

I then applied a weighted sum of the above stats, normalized to 100 to reach a single "score" for each player (minimum 25% of team minutes played to be eligible). If a player scored 100, it would mean they were best in the conference at all 5 advanced stat categories. 0 would be worst in the conference at all 5 etc.

Without further ado...

1. VonCameron Davis, Kent St, 6-5 Sr (Player of the Year) (Score: 89.94)

This is cool. Would love to see the raw data (i.e. the data before you calculated the weighted sum for Ohio's guys. I'm particularly interested to see how Hadaway's numbers breakdown between offense/defense.

Careful now, this might be seen as cherry picking stats.

Careful now, this may be seen for exactly what it is: needlessly piling on and detailing an interesting thread with petty bullsh*t.
