Hard team to make sense of. Got beat bad by Miami to open the season and bad loss to Lousiana. But have beaten a few teams we lost to (Texas State, JMU x2).

Hopefully their coach lets them walk around uptown and they fatten up on some O'Betty's red hots on Friday night.

These guys just won on a buzzer beating dunk last night. They'll play four guys Searls size or bigger. They've got some beef, yet they aren't a dominant rebounding team and don't shoot as well as we do. They're not good from the foul stripe (Evans in as a hack magnet?). Keep the ball zipping around the half court and go run out everything that looks like it could be a transition basket. If our shot is on, we win comfortably. If it's a slog like the Kent game we could be in some trouble.

I always want us to win BUT.....I want us to get out of this game healthy. This game means absolutely zero for anything to me right now. If we lose by 50 I will immediately forget it. If we win by 50 I will have a smile and immediately forget about it. We still have a chance to be special, even without Captain Chaos. Going 1-1 in the Sun Belt Challenge at 12-10 overall is not even on my radar. I would like to see a healthy dose of Ayden Evans and Ben Nichol. Elliott is too valuable now as a rebounder and energy guy so give his minutes to Ajay and let Ajay play 30 minutes.

Couldn't disagree more. The largest crowd of the year (Sibs weekend). Developing some momentum after WMU game. The worst thing we could do, IMO, is play to lose because we're afraid someone is going to get hurt. I mean, why not lose every non-conference game in that case?

Players play to win games. This would be a solid win, should be a fun one. And hope the MAC protects home court and wins the challenge.

Won 8 of last 10 after starting out 5-7. Their best player came from Butler. I remember him vaguely, but he's averaging 16/5/5 this season. Not too shabby for a 6' guard, like Pav.

I certainly don't think we're as favorited as the ESPN predicter thing thinks, but at home I'm always optimistic. Then its off to BG for another Sam Towns revenge game.

Echoing SBH's point about building momentum with a win here. It may not look like much in the grand scheme of things, but the work you do in February usually leads to success in March.

2005 MAC Champs - Had a mid February win against Detroit which started a 4-game win streak, including a huge home win against Buffalo.

2010 MAC Champs - It didn't seem like much at the time, but after two straight road losses, beating a good Wright State at home kept us from drowning. Had we lost that one, I'm not sure we beat Miami or BG and make the MAC Tournament.

Nah, you put the best combination to win on the floor. If Clayton didn't play against WMU but was given the all-clear for App State, I could see both sides of whether to play him. But now, stick with the eight-man rotation and save Evans for a foul trouble emergency. This should be the biggest crowd of the year thus far and you have the chance to re-energize the fan base against a team equal to a MAC tournament semifinal opponent.

Dang - I remember Harbut and Green being out for that Detroit game, but rotation minutes for Bridgewater and Annen? Bridgewater with an impressive 10 trillion! Remember all those people screaming for him to play simply because he was the most athletic guy on the team? That was the Jeremy Fears walk-off three and back flip game.

That next home game against Buffalo he hit six threes, which was extremely rare for him given his shooting percentages. We were going crazy in the O Zone that night.

I actually made the trip to Detroit for that game! Incredible ending.

Sadly I don't thing we have had anything like that other than the win over VA in many years. When players are here a year or two, it's tough to make a connection and talk about this play and that play 10, 20 or 30 years from now.

Good thing Coach Boals likes to recruit guys who fit the culture and feel like a part of the OU family. It's why he has so few who transfer out comparatively. If you like roster continuity, consider yourselves lucky.

For those wanting the nostalgic Fears flip:

Six point lead with Clayton putting up a goose egg at the half. I have to believe that will change significantly in the second half. Really wish Boals would play more of Sheldon and Searls for some of Elmore’s minutes. He is out of sync. His minutes should decrease and he should not be getting more minutes in any game over Elliott moving forward.

Brick brick brick on offense.
Small and soft on defense.
Then it is block block on offense

Hard to win games when the preseason conference player of the year has zero points 30 minutes into the game.
