There was a lengthy article on changes to public education in Ohio this week in the Dispatch. One of the topics was Ed Choice. Here's a link about it:

Can someone please explain this quote?

The state's new budget passed last month includes two billion dollars over the next two years for the EdChoice program expanding options for families regardless of their income.

"What ended up happening is there are a lot of middle-class families that their local school districts weren't working well for them. Not every single school can meet the needs of every single child, and so there's a lot of demand among those families that weren't really poor in the traditional sense, but really their kids were struggling," Frank said.

It's a fancy way of expanding the "voucher" system, to funnel money into the privates and charter schools.

Vouchers are so 20 years ago. Here in Houston, the state is outright dismantling public schools in order to support charters.

They are moving that way in Ohio. A growing number of GOP legislators, have been aggressively attacking funding.

Sadly that's true but without offering any ideas on how to fix what they claim is a broken system.

I just heard something that must have been submitted to an Athens radio station under the guise of being a PSA about the charter school opening in SE OH in the fall of 2024 that admitted being affiliated with "Hillsdale College."

Nah, those are rookie tactics. Why bother attacking the funding when you can just directly take control of school districts and tear them down?

The right is all about “choice” when it comes to schools and guns. Just not for women and their bodies and LGTBQ. Also voting. Religion, as long as it’s Christian.
