Perhaps. But if you are one of the students in the band it's probably a really fun experience. Sure there are other academic organizations a student can be a member of on any campus but to have commitment from 600 students with similar desire to play music and get a little exercise cannot be all bad. Just think of how many life long social relationships will come about by being in a section of the Falcon Band.

I will wager that the average poster on BA doesn't know more than 5 peer Bobcats that he/she keeps in contact with regularly unless they played on a team, was in the 110 or went Greek. Most of these 600 will know and be close to far more than the typical BGSU student.

Grandma and grandpa might even buy a ticket to go watch them for a little extra revenue.
