Shocking.

But we are now appearing on the ESPN Bracetology as the MAC rep, facing Florida in the 1st round as a #12 seed.

Bracketology this time of year is just click bait and a reason for someone to justify their employment. It's like bowl predictions or Heisman standings in September. Somewhat interesting but meaningless. And often this time of year they just throw in last year's MAC champ.

ESPN bracketology uses the current conference leaders (conf record then overall record) for the one bid conferences, not last years champion. At least Lunardis bracketology does

Know nothing about the above link but my son texted me this earlier today - an image showing OUr Bobcats ranked #31.

I'm more impressed that my 15-year-old is showing some interest in the Bobcats. I don't pressure him, just like I didn't pressure his sister to attend Ohio University (she graduated last spring from OU). So I was happy to hear him tell SBH Friday night at dinner before the Kent-Ohio game, when asked where he's thinking of going to college, that he likes Ohio University. Then again, he might have felt pressure from SBH and just gave him the answer he thought he wanted to hear. SBH has that affect on minors (and some adults).

I wonder if we have 2 comfortable wins this week to get to 14-2 maybe at least the guy who liked us earlier and gave us a vote would consider putting us back on his list.

I thought I saw Belmont had 1 vote in the Top 25 this week.

OU handled them pretty well earlier this season.

LSU continuing to move up, UK still playing tough. Those being the only two losses for OU should certainly help things.

Rankings are overrated until the final ones come out. There is great power being under the radar…I’m totally fine right where we are. Just keep winning!
Go Bobcats!

Agreed. In many cases the polls are popularity contests and the so-called "power rankings" are merely one guy's opinion. What counts is (1) going unbeaten each week, (2) winning the MAC regular season to ensure at least an NIT bid, and (3) winning Cleveland.

Cab somebody explain to me Belmont being "ranked" higher than us everywhere despite our beating them? Is it RPI? Their monster win over Iona?

It doesn't make a ton of sense except that it was on our home court. They had a nice win vs Iona but I don't feel like that should trump our trio of Belmont/Marshall/Cleve St wins. They got spanked at LSU much worse than us. Oh well, doesn't really matter (yet).

ESPN's Kevin Connors updated the mid-major top 10. It excluded the P5, Big East and also the American and Gonzaga. Two other WCC teams outside of Gonzaga have made the list. The conference has started to ride Gonzaga's coattails the last few years. It has definitely gotten better. There are two MWC and two A10 but I am sure that is normal.

1. Loyola - Chicago
2. BYU
3. San Diego St.
4. Davidson
5. Belmont
6. San Francisco
7. Colorado St.
8. St. Mary's
9. St. Bonaventure
10. Ohio

Some people are going to complain about Ohio being 5 spots behind Belmont when we beat them head-to-head and have a better record. It is somewhat understandable. They have played a tougher schedule and have gotten into less close contests with lesser teams plus we had home court. They would be favored against us right now on a neutral court. Don't get me wrong. Ranking Ohio higher would also be understandable but you can see where the people that don't are coming from.
