Let's get this going. A big transition year is ahead for this program. The women got some video love too: https://twitter.com/OhioWBasketball/status/15480131457964...

It appears Kroll and Antenova are still aboard even though they have both been in college basketball for at least four years. For Kroll this will be her seventh year in college basketball. I hope both of them have healthy, productive seasons.

Who is the player at the 0:08 mark of that video? She appears to be the same player in an exercise bike video the team twitter posted this past week. A new freshman? There's been no announcement. I know we have a freshman guard out of Louisville and a transfer forward from Delaware, this mystery player, and any other newcomers?

As borna posted, the team has a 2023 verbal from Bailey Tabeling, a 5'10'' guard out of Indiana. She also had a Murray State offer from what I can gather.

Good to see the shot mechanics on Pope in that snippet. I like that player. Expecting big things. Bolden looks to be all in....

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I know I should be sad to see such a powerful class of Hooks/Johnson/Burris go...but I am excited to see Boldon start over. I still believe in him as a coach/leader and I feel like the last 1.5 years things really got away from him with a uber-veteran roster.

Agree on Ella Pope. I think some of the girls on the bench/injured are better than we may think. In particular I think Kate Dennis had several impressive offers and I've been surprised with how little we have seen of her. She never got her shot going but the offense was just a mess last year. Add Mace & Felder who got lots of experience last season and I'm hoping the guard play is solid.

Another 2023 commit, Asiah Baxter, 5'11 G/F from Warren Central, IN. She also had offers from IUPUI, IPFW, and possibly Loyola (IL)

^Can do a little bit of everything decently well - threes, mid range, post ups, and putbacks.

Bob doesn't emphasize post players much, does he? Seems the roster makeup is usually two point guards, a whole bunch of mid size G/F types, and one or two post players.

For all the good that Bob has done with this program, I have felt for a while that the biggest weakness is a lack of post players and rebounding. I'd love to see more Jasmine Weatherspoon type players come in. From my seat, it feels like the bigger/physical teams in the MAC have given us fits for several seasons.

I agree. We need a big WoMANZ! (Apologies to Monroe)

It felt like too much ballhog ball the last couple of years. A lot of talent, and all in the name of setting records, but we really screwed the pooch on winning ballgames. That and injuries derailed this group.

+1 Exactly . . . ball-hog ball describes it well. That's not the whole team, but some pivotal players

The team announced a JUCO transfer. Kailah Johnson played her freshman season at Alabama State then two years at Edison State where she averaged 21 ppg. Presumably she would have two years remaining. 5'7'' guard.

The team has not posted its roster. There still seems to be a mystery player. Who is the blonde player in the middle of the second row from this picture: https://twitter.com/OhioWBasketball/status/15552335804265...

The mystery player is Cassidy Lafler from Dublin Coffman. Sheesh, lots of twitter sleuthing because the athletics department can't write a release for something as simple as a (presuming) scholarship athlete signing.

Is Madi Mace still with the team? Some recent team social media posts and she's been absent.

I thought I saw Mace in a fb "story" a couple days ago but can't check that because those disappear after 24 hours.

https://ohiobobcats.com/sports/wbball/schedule

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference has announced the Ohio Women's Basketball Schedule for the 2022-23 season. The Bobcats are scheduled to tip off this season's edition of MACtion on the road, against Akron on January 4th.

In the month of January, there will be three additional games played in the Convocation Center; Buffalo (Jan. 11), WMU (Jan. 18), and Ball State (Jan. 28). Ohio will also travel to four schools in January; Akron (Jan. 4), Norther Illinois (Jan. 14), Miami of Ohio (Jan. 21), and Central Michigan (Jan. 25).

The February lineup will have three home contests taking place in the Convocation Center; Bowling Green (Feb. 8), Northern Illinois (Feb. 11), and Central Michigan (Feb. 18). There will also be five road games for the Bobcats in February; Eastern Michigan (Feb. 1), Toledo (Feb. 4), Ball State (Feb. 15), Kent State (Feb. 22), and Western Michigan (Feb. 25).

March brings two final conference games for the Bobcats, both will be held at home. The first game is against Miami of Ohio (March 1) and the final game of the conference will be played against Eastern Michigan on March 4th. The women's basketball regular season will conclude on Saturday, March 4th with the top eight teams in the conference moving on to Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for the MAC Women's Basketball Tournament on March 8-11.

Ohio ended their MAC 2021-2022 season in the quarterfinals of the tournament, falling to No.1 Toldeo. They later accepted a post-season bid for the Women's National Invitational Tournament where they fell to South Dakota State. Coach Boldon and his team are excited to tip off yet another MAC conference season this January.

If this team has the same sort of injury luck that it has had for the last three years it will probably be a long season.

Another commitment - Monica Williams from Lawrence North in Indiana. A top 10 player in Indiana and a top 250 player nationally.

[QUOTE=Trevor Stephens] Ohio hosting Cincy in return game on Dec 13

There crosstown shootout with Xavier would be their previous game which, I think might benefit Ohio unless they lose and take it out on Ohio.

I have to believe the two missing games are home games. One might be a non-D1 game.

There is now a Yaya, Jaya, and Aja on the roster. That's about as bad as AJ, Ajay, and A.J.

This could give an announcer fits.

Seriously, I really like Yaya. I think she’s going to make us forget CeCe very quickly. She has very good moves toward the rim and seems to be a real team player.

BTW, what’s the word on Mace. Is she seriously injured?

I tried to google and found nothing specific. On her own twitter she says she had braces removed last month. If I had to guess I'd say she is OK.

Thanks for this additional information. I had heard about the braces, and had not heard that they were off. I do hope that your conclusion is correct. I think she's going to be a very good player for OHIO.
