There’s probably a story here that we might not leave; whether it’s injury, sickness, or something else. He’s been the most productive freshman to date.

How about the Louisville transfer's coolness at the line to stroke in two free throws after netting a big basket moments before. Especially when everyone else from the line was less than lousy.

Glad to have him on the team!

I want to take the moral victory and encouraging signs of a team that will hopefully compete in the MAC. But I am just still mad we let that one slip away. Good grief let's count all the stupidity:

Game tied with a minute to go and we have a terrible possession where we burn clock for no reason, should have just ran the normal offense and score well above 30 seconds so they can't hold for last possession. Ultimately turn it over at the end of shot clock. Really awful.

Then...We get a stop and spazz hurry a shot with about 5 seconds still on the clock.

Then...How has no one mentioned the ultimate brain fart from Devon Baker? He clearly forgot the game was tied and thought we were trailing and committed an obvious foul after the rebound...the type you expect to see when you're desperate & down.

Then...We get an absolute gift of the most wide open easiest shot in history and Roderick doesn't come even remotely close to making. Wilson put back luckily gets Roderick & Baker off the hook and basically makes it as though Baker never tried to literally hand Michigan the game with the foul.

Then in OT, we get the ball down 2 with 40 seconds to go. After the disappointing first 3.5 minutes of OT this is very fortunate. We hurry a shot but get an offensive rebound.

Then...(this one is most upsetting to me), we get the ball back out to reset with a full 18 seconds still on the shot clock and Clayton acts as though there is about 0.5 seconds left in the game...feverishly hoists a very contested shot rather than even consider resetting and running some ball movement. Again, we are only down 2.

Then...Michigan gives us a chance with a missed free throw. Down 3 and the next 3 UM fouls are a 1 and 1. If you let the clock get under 10 or so of course they will foul. So what do we do but stand there and let the clock get under 10 seconds before we do anything. UM predictably fouls.

Then...Roderick takes a zero confidence free throw for the miss. Even if he had made it...we were pretty well screwed because we forfeited most the game clock before they fouled us.

I didn't get to listen to the post-game but I hope coach takes some responsibility for the poor execution at the end. Several different moments with the wrong approach in my opinion, but I'm just a random guy on the internet. Strong showing overall but really disappointing execution in the final moments. Good learning experience for this time of year.

And then letting the clock tick down with 22 seconds left down three and not attacking for a quick two?

Head scratchers.

I would say Clayton took the shot because no one else wanted to. Who is our guy to close out games? Thought it would be Jaylin after the first half, but apparently not. Agreed on the Boals comment, we had a timeout to burn when we were tied in regulation at the end there. Use it, regroup, call a play, get the last shot.

I genuinely think he somehow thought we were in panic mode and he had to get a shot up, unaware we had an abundance of time. For his sake I hope that is his defense rather than just deciding that was the best play for us in that moment.

I still think Clayton can be a difference maker but I am DONE with his loiter around the arc and quick trigger. If we go back and take out his nice start in OOC last year, I am pretty sure he has NOT been an even average 3 point shooter. And having out supposed forward just hanging our there is NOT always the best thing for our offense. His game needs to evolve.

Clayton was in because he can hit that shot. See Belmont game. Unfortunately, there was a no-call on the foul.

Pretty much all of this. Only thing I didn't mind was Hunter's pull up three with five seconds left. Take a semi-open look while the defense is disorganized, and give yourself a chance at an offensive board and putback.

One could argue that he can’t hit that shot after all the clunkers he tossed up yesterday. The Belmont shot looks more like an exception rather the norm. As Ruck stated above, his game needs to evolve from roving the arc.

I agree, I liked the shot from Hunter. Michigan didn't have their defense set yet and you have the chance for an offensive board and put back to win.

What sticks with me were all the free throw misses. Free points, we gave a lot of them away. It made a difference.

Having been in the Crisler Center last night, man, tough one to digest. We had this one. We should have had this one. Amazing effort and we were all proud Bobcats even in defeat to have pushed UM to OT.

These are the games MAC teams typically squander v. teams outside the MAC. Seen this too many times over many years and twice this month alone in games played in the Crisler Center (EMU close loss to UM).

Many on here have the attitude that the only games that matter are conference games and more specifically MAC tournament games. However, for the conference to raise its national image and rankings its teams have to start winning these games. Or at least a fair share of them.

And if I remember correctly, Boals took him out after that decision. And I remember thinking at the time that he took him out because of that decision.

4 points and 4 fouls. I didn’t mind the fouls. He was aggressive on defense. It was certainly an improvement over his play vs Detroit.

After looking at the stats and from my watching of the DVR of the game . . . up to the last regulation TO . . . are:

1. We would have won this game if we weren't the worst free-throw shooting team in the known universe.
2. Wiz must be "big game" player, as he actually looked better than Rio Grande's last man off the bench.

Dude hit two big time 3s to give us the lead in the second half yesterday. Let's hope that's a springboard. He drove into some tough matchups yesterday that in the MAC he'll be able to finish.

Everything we threw up in the last 5 minutes yesterday just indicated to me that we had little left in the legs.

I was going to say Tettleton in football, but he was still a very good quarterback by the end, just not one who could physically take over a game given his reticence to run.

I didn’t think “touch” was a skill you could have and then lose. It seems it happened to Ben Roderick. He does everything he did before, but the ball just doesn’t go in.

Rush Floyd.

MAC Freshman of the year.

Next three years...I'm not even sure if he made another basket.

Rush loved court street and court street loved Rush. I respect it.

I was at the game and not sure how anybody could walk away feeling better about Wiz? My goal is to quit harping on him because I really don't like calling individuals out but he hurt us bad as soon as he entered the game.

I don't mind the 4 fouls because that was pretty much the only way to stop Dickerson.

I do mind the instant turnovers as soon as he gets the ball.

I always kind of have a soft place in my heart for the designated fouler. In pickup games that was always my forte along with trash talking. ;-)

Oh come on…how about the time he flubbed the pass then suddenly (and unexpectedly) got control and banked it in!! And those free throw, my gawd…the free throws… those were just short of heroic!! I liken him to another big man, Dr KVK. I am looking forward to some nearly competent performances before he graduates! (Maybe even get on the cover of USA TODAY!) 😉

That bank shot was one of those shots where I was yelling out loud "NO NO NO NO....HOW THE HELL DID HE JUST MAKE THAT?"

That shot combined with the 2 clutch free throws were almost as miraculous as the end of regulation.

I'm as tough on Roderick as anyone, and yes he seemed to fold a bit at the end of the game at Michigan, but we would not have found ourselves in OT without his two big three pointers in that game.
