Unfortunately, the man that subs in for him way too much, Gabe Wiznitzer is not.

Good lord. Why does every thread have to go negative? Why can’t we just have something praising a player who had a good half without ripping on another player? This right here is why I won’t be coming back here much anymore

Sorry, I'm just calling it like I see it. Wasn't trying to make it negative. If you can name one positive thing Wiznitzer gave us tonight you'll silence me forever (I'm not sure 2 rebounds count).

Yes, I agree Wilson was a beast tonight and will be for the rest of the MAC season!

He's gonna need some help from somebody else in order for us to win these games against the upper echelon MAC teams like Kent State.

Then start your own thread about whatever the hell you want. This was a thread congratulating Ed to trash Wiz in a thread about Wilson. These types of replies and attitudes are exactly why Ohio is the most despised fan base in the MAC and I can’t stand all the negative BS anymore. I’m out

He gave Wilson some 13-14 minutes of rest.

Just sad that the continual bashing of Wiz overshadows others who aren't exactly lighting things up. Which starter tonight layed a goose egg scoring and had more than a few turnovers? The list can go on and on ........ Blaming one guy for a mediocre team doesn't make much sense.

I agree. Wiz has not been great but his stat line against Kent was better than A.J. Brown. I did not watch the game bit what did A.J. do at all? It looks like he played 28 minutes of disappear ball. You cannot go for zero points and have 1 board and zero assists. We had 3 of those guys against Kent, not just Wiz.

And DW3 is league MVP. You can have Sin Carry. Talented young man but a ballhog. Dwight is a man and I hope we turn things around so we do not ruin his last year.

Imagine having Dwight last season with Carter and BVP as our front court; would have been fun.

DW3 is one of my favorite players in a while. That first half last night against Kent was pure dominance. I can't wait to watch him push around the rest of the bigs in the MAC all season long.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

I've read it before and it's mind boggling truly.

And the only people I'm weeping for are for these coaches who made their evaluations and made offers. Not surprisingly, some of those coaches are no longer coaching.

If a guy that size (6'11) can't grab rebounds, block shots (he only has 3 on the season and he's 6'11) or defend-there's no point in having him out there. Especially against athletic 4/5s. You are better off going smaller. But nobody can execute the perfect moving screen game in and game out like the Whiz. Sorry, but when he's in the game you just hold your breath and hope to survive and the other team doesn't go on a 10-0 run. The +/- numbers don't lie when #11 is on the floor. And please try and find where I ever compared the Whiz to Wilson. You can't because it never happened.

Also, Miles decision making was really bad last night. Made some big plays late, but first half was one of the worst I've seen out of Miles in a Bobcat uniform. AJB was bad (0 points), but I'll take his version of his hoops IQ (smart passes and positioning) over the likes of Baker, Hunter and BRod. Unfortunately, BRod missed FT in closing minutes erased the good things he did. A huge miss with the 1-and-1.

Hated the Boals time-out late to set up a three that never happened. I knew it was a chaotic possession late, but Hunter was at least jacking up a 24 footer that looked open before timeout was called. Calling that timeout allowed Kent defense to set up and inexplicably Miles throws up a two....down three? Painful to watch.

Bottom line....Kent played quite possibly its worst game of the year on our home court. We won't get a better opportunity moving forward to knock them off with how poor they looked last night.

Side note: I know he’s out of the rotation, but anyone know why Hadaway was in street clothes last night?

+1. We might as well experiment with smaller and more athletic lineups at this point — Hunter, Miles, Elmore, AJB, Dwight. BRod and Clayton first off bench.

No idea what’s going on with Hadaway. He hasn’t been great, but again, no harm in trying to re-insert him with more playing time because no one outside of Dwight is playing great and we could use the length.

Sources please? Holy cow, talk about a hissy fit. I'm sure there are at LEAST 6 people who despise Ohio because of Bobcat Attack. Maybe 7.

I actually agree with you that EVERY thread doesn't need to be about poor Wiz, but geez. Breathe man.

First - counting stats don't really tell the value/worth of a player. Go look through the statistical analysis thread I posted. Wiz has been....terrible on offense. He's been below average but playable on defense. His overall win shares and plus/minus suggest he should be about the 9th or 10th guy in the rotation i.e. getting a couple minutes here and there. Sub him in for a 2-4 minute stretch each half and say "rebound and play defense plz" and that's all we need from him.

DW3 has been a 1st team all league player. Too bad he can't stay on the floor longer. Imagine if we could get 34-35 minutes a night from him. He'd be a 20/14 guy instead of a 14/10 guy.

As for AJ Brown. What happened to him was Malique Jacobs (should be MAC DPoY) and the Kent defense. That's the best defense he'll see all year. He'll grow and adjust, as he has the talent, but that was a learning experience for him IMO. And I've been clamoring for him to use his length and passing to contribute more on offense than just scoring for awhile now. It's not "there" yet. Hopefully it comes soon, because you can't just become invisible on a night when you're not scoring if you're the #2 or #3 option. Gotta find other ways to help the team win.

Once again, DWIII shows that he is dominant in basketball. Hopefully, he is working himself onto an All-MAC team. A game of 31 points, 11 rebounds, ZERO turnovers, and finds a way to stay out of foul trouble as well. He's shooting around 61% for the year, and tonight was over 80%. Just remarkable. I have to imagine he's got a strong future playing overseas.

Last year’s team with Dwight would have been a nightmare for most. Bumping Carter to 4 and BVP to 3; with Sears —- the program could look entirely different this season. I’d like to think we’d probably repeat as MAC champs and make some noise in tourney. Which might have led to Boals actual departure.

He's a 7 footer with decent mobility. They get offers based on potential alone and the hope that they can be coached into something valuable.

That he had a lot of offers isn't surprising and is par for the course. I don't think there's a resource, but I do wonder how much interest he got in the portal. My guess is not much.

How many players who can't see the floor on a bottom third ACC team become impact players in the MAC?

He's beginning to look like the DWIII we remember from before the surgery -- maybe even better. What a dominant performance last night. Truly awe inspiring. I listened to the post-game interview, and it's clear that not only is he a great basketball player, but he's a great person with a real team-oriented philosophy.

One question: is he totally out of eligibility after this year, or does he still have his Covid-19 year if he wants to take it? I find it's hard to keep track of these things these days.

While I agree with the sentiment that adding Wilson to the talent we had last year would've made us more talented, I'm not sure it makes us as unstoppable as some think. I am not sure those 3 on the floor together would've made our offense much better, as the spacing with Wilson and Carter out there together would've been rough. If we think Sears didn't have enough room to operate last year with the shooting woes, I don't think adding Wilson would've helped much. And defensively, while BVP is okay switching onto guards or quicker players for a possession or brief parts of possessions, I don't think it would've been as pretty if he was assigned to a smaller, quicker forward at all times. Same with Carter.

Also, I believe I have seen here somewhere that Wilson was actually injured in the 2021 NCAA tournament or before then, so we went into the offseason before last year knowing we'd be without him in the 2021-22 season. I think that is why Boals & co. went after Carter. I am at least skeptical that Boals and Carter would've been so agreeable about a reunion if they thought BVP and Wilson were back and healthy for the following year.

EDIT: I guess I should contribute something on the actual topic of the thread too. So yes, agreed, Dwight Wilson III is good at basketball. We'd be in rough shape without him this year.

I believe he totally exhausts his eligibility after this year.

What about life after Wilson? The board is sort of in agreement that G-Wiz is not the answer. He wasn't the answer at U of L and isn't in the MAC either.

Transfer portal again?

Is Josh Mballa going to have any eligibility left for a 7th year at a 4th college?
