And quite fun to look at bars from the past ...

Made me think of stumbling back to West Green down Union and if not mistaken stopping at Angelo's for a sub or occasionally at BBF almost across from Bromley and next to Frisch's.

One thing I'll never forget -- and wonder if, or when, they ever fixed the sign was near Engineering Building as you headed to West Green that said "No Stoping" ... the sign had the typo, not my post here. The Graduate was often our last stop as we walked from the CI back to James Hall.

One of the bars they list was Club 33.

I thought Club 33 wasn't in Athens.

That's why they could be open on Sundays.

If not mistaken, I think Club 33 was out on Route 13. And yes to Sundays, not sure if it was within Athens County or had some other work around to be open then.

The Club 33 was on old US Rt. 33 (now Ohio Rt. 13) as you go toward Chauncey. The building is still there. It's now Billy's Bargain Shop. In rural Ohio (outside a city, town or incorporated village) wet and dry is by often by Township or even Individual Precinct. So, I would assume Sunday sales could be controlled on a very local basis.
