Penn State's Evan Mahaffey has entered the portal. From Cincinnati (Moeller). Averages weren't eye-popping, but he was just a freshman on a tourney team and was in the rotation. Ultra athletic at 6'6' 200.

High school stats: http://gcls.gclsports.com/bkPlayerStats.aspx?player=632489

Penn State highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtW47QPZIk8

Very well could be following his coach to Notre Dame, too.

He now follows most our staff — even Mike Cifliku, our Video Coordinator. Might be worth monitoring.

This would be a pretty solid add for us - 12.5 PPG and 6.6 RPG for Monmouth this year. But - is shooting 46% from field (decline from frosh and soph years) and isn't a three pt shooter - also 56% FT percentage.

And NIU lost another contributor in Anthony Crump.

We just took a big from the ACC last year.

And I believe Caffaro's stats are eerily similar to those of Whiz's. We don't need 2 post players who averaged 2 ppg and 2 rpg in the ACC on this roster. I would take a 6-6 guy who averaged 15 ppg and 7 rpg for Stephen F. Austin first :)

+1. I had Caffaro mistaken for someone else. Some of these 6’11/7 guys with little to no pt are probably too risky for us to gamble on, given the gaping hole we have in the paint.

Never know if it means anything or not; but of the players we’ve been linked to — Mostafa from Coastal at least follows Boals back now and is also now followed by Lamar. Same with Khalid Gates.

Sam Alajiki of Cal is also a new portal name Boals now follows and who follows back.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Mostafa update. Nothing on us at the moment.

Dieonte Miles leaving Xavier. Primarily a bench player and didn't pad a lot of stats or minutes, but he was a Kentucky Mr. Basketball candidate and 3-star coming out of Walton, KY.

I think it’s ok if he can’t shoot the three. We have a lot firepower returning on the outside. Foster’s athleticism/physical play down low would be a welcome addition to the current roster. The free throw % leaves a lot to be desired, though.

Xavier has now lost 4 players to the portal. Will be interesting to see if any of them end up at Miami if they were originally recruited by Travis Steele.

Chris Livingston of Kentucky has three options:
Stay, portal or Go Pro!

Definitely a different opportunity than most who wish to transfer.

From Akron, OH. Maybe the Zips can get a One and Done with some rubber NIL.

Son of former Redhawk Jamie Mahaffey. Just a hunch: Dad probably doesn't want him coming to Athens!

Jamie Mahaffey - there's a Fiami blast from the past. Just throw in some Landon Hackim to go with Devin Davis to complete the trio of suck.

Boy I loved to hate those teams. And yes, they were good.

IMO, Davis always seemed to be the closest thing to Kryptonite in conference play for Gary Trent too, which made it even worse.

Interesting — NAIA All-American PG/undersized CG. Wondering if we’ll take best player available approach if we’re only able to land one big. I don’t see this area as a need, but can never have enough guard play/depth that can score.

Well, he tried last year. Clearly wasn't happy with his decision

Greencat,

Any thoughts on Chris Nix from UT Martin? Led them in rebounds on a decent team. Based on his stats it didn't look to me he was getting a lot of touches - they had four guards and a wing scoring the bulk of the points. Nix almost had more rebounds than points, but did shoot over 50% from the field.

Apparently he went to the same high school I went to last century but I never heard about him. Also see he played a couple of years juco. He averaged 15ppg on year at Martin.

archived records show
Scored 10 vs Ole Miss
10 vs Morehead State who won the OVC
23 vs Belmont the year before (when they had Muszinski)
14 vs FAU... the team that is crashing the final four
13 vs Morehead when they had NBA prospect Broome (now at Auburn)
30 vs TSU
10 vs WKU and their 7-5 center

If all else fails, he would do.

so fast that you may ask yourself what was going on in the post game handshake lines and back channels.

Saw Juwan Howard doing this exact thing to RayJ Dennis after Michigan's win over Toledo in the NIT. Could have just been a normal conversation, but it seemed more deliberate than that.
