What's that dude do well? He's got a rebound rate that's somewhere between Ben Roderick and Quinn Corna, doesn't stretch the floor, and doesn't score inside. I guess he profiles as slightly above average defensively?

Y'all pray for me if we have SPECS and The Whiz roaming the paint during the 2023-2024 season.

Breidenbach might not seem impressive at surface level, but he did have double-digit outings against Illinois, Michigan State, and K-State this past season. At this stage of portal season, there’s some upside with him.

Reading Nebraska blogs, sounds like he prefers to play outside. Probably why he’s still available.

Are we setting ourselves up for the return of the twin-towers offense to college basketball with the Breidenbach and Witnitzer dual scoring machines? Asking for FearLeon and his psychiatrist.

OCF...if this happens, you mean psychiatrist(s)....plural. Lord have mercy. But I do appreciate FJC31 optimism. His knowledge of this program is fantastic.

Appreciate that, Fear. Breidenbach isn’t my preference, to be clear. I’d take him, but I’ve been hoping for an athletic rim protector type since Foster didn’t happen. Just not sure that still exists in the portal at this point.

Breidenbach apparently had offers from Cal, Vandy, USC out of h.s. **

He hasn't lived up to that yet but project bigs take a while to develop.

Also, those are good academic schools. Grades shouldn't be an issue.

**Stackhouse demands his guys play defense. If nothing else he should do that.

L$U ?

Did Will Wade make him a "strong-ass" offer?

Ah, ok. Should ask if they have any insight on what we’re doing. I haven’t seen us connected to a player rumor wise since Jay Pal/Alimamy.

Perhaps Boals can go after Jordan Brown, who is 6-11 and just entered the portal. He would potentially ease FearLeon's fear of having to rely on Wiz after averaging 19.3 and 15.3 pts/game the last two seasons and 8.6 boards in each of those two seasons. He would satisfy Bobcat Love's Sense of Shame's shameful vision of a career collegiate athlete after previous stops at Nevada, Arizona and Louisiana.

Jordan Brown is going high major. If there’s anything to be learned from this portal season, proven size isn’t coming to Athens.

I believe he is a little out of our price range.

Thanks Bobcatsquared. I really do appreciate the concern that so many on this board have for my well-being as we patiently await for the portal big man to arrive. We are in this together!

Pray for me.

Just an update on NCAA numbers to put the free agency bidding war/waiting game in perspective.

According to Verbal Commits:
1,777 people have entered the transfer portal.
1,121 of them have signed somewhere, leaving 656 currently un-signed.
That's 63.1% signed and 36.9% unsigned.

Specific to the MAC:
65 declared for the portal.
43 of them have signed, 22 remain unsigned (including Adelodun) - that's 66.2% signed, just slightly higher than national average.
31 players have been brought in.

Take from this what you will, but I found it interesting that this "late" in the game it appears 1/3 of free agents are still available and all across the MAC there's still quite a few roster spots open on multiple teams - so this isn't just an Ohio thing.

Lots players out there. Transfer process is crazy. Ohio has a lot to offer. Money might not be it, but education and a chance to play for a winning program.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the latter two matter as much in this landscape. If that were the case; I think one of Foster (Illinois State — I do like what Ryan Pedon is building), Javonte Brown (Western Michigan), Isaiah Carr (Denver), and Alimamy Koroma (Portland) would have landed here since none of their destinations are coming off winning seasons.

Yup...it's all about the Benjamins now...especially for any competent big man that is 6'8 or taller. Not sure what our strategy will be after this summer moving forward with recruiting bigs. We have a wide open position for somebody that can play 28-31 minutes per game in the paint and all they have to simply do is catch the ball, rebound and set a legal screen. And we can't find this in the portal before June 12th? Does Boals and company after this summer commit moving forward to finding bigs on the HS level? That hasn't been prosperous either with this staff. I don't have the answers to this one. We are simply getting outbid at this level and losing bigs that we want to Western Michigan just ain't good.

I agree. It looks like we need to come to grips with the fact that we will have the best group of wings in the league: AJ Brown, Elmore James, Jaylin Hunter, Shereef Mitchell, Ike Cornish and Miles Brown with a sprinkling of salvageable but less-than-illustrious bigs: AJ Clayton, IJ Ezuma, Gabe Wiznitzer and Aidan Hadaway.

The drop off from the wings to guys who can be effective in the paint is alarming.
