OA is done at OU.
Coach probably discussed OJ's options at the end of the year., that's why he is not listed as being on the team.
Wish him well.

I wasn't expecting him back. I suspect, like you, do that Boals probably told him that he should transfer and if that's the case it is hard to see him playing here again. I'm a little surprised, but not shocked, if no D1 team has offered. If the deal is that nobody on any level has offered then that is very surprising to me. He may be hoping for a D1 spot before settling. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything.

I think I ask this every time, but.... are there are no rules with the portal?

Buddy can leave in August and join Akron in September?

Rules are like laws. Without an enforcement mechanism, they're merely suggestions.

Grad transfers are the exception, although I do agree August is pretty late.

Statement from Coach Lewis:

"I believe that Ball State University has gone above and beyond to provide a foundation of success for Boogie's future, including graduation. Although we are disappointed in the timing of this decision, we will always support graduating our student-athletes regardless of risk due to current NCAA rules regarding transfer eligibility and other external influences. We are thankful for Boogie's contributions to our program and wish him nothing but success in his future."

Is there a more bad luck Charlie Brown program in the MAC than Ball State?

I believe they still have a scholarship open even after this. It seems to be true of a lot of schools.

Portal stats this year. 45% of players who entered might not have a home for this season.

Those players can't possibly be doing what's best for themselves. I know some of those players who entered the portal were not working out and were essentially shown the door, but not 45%. Hard to tell on a case by case basis, but in the aggregate, that is ridiculous.

6'10 Stetson center Mahamadou Diawara has entered the portal. The coaches have seen him twice in the last two years. 9 PPG, 6 RPG, 1 BPG, 56 FG%. One year left.

So you are saying there's a chance FearLeon will get his wish of another BigManz for 2023-24?

That's just mean to tease him at this late juncture. The roster is what it is.

I don't expect another player but I wouldn't rule it out. People are still signing for the upcoming season. But I believe you'd need to be enrolled at the beginning of the semester.

I would take him in a heartbeat OCF. Has skill.

Totally. I think the number will shrink over time once guys realize the grass isn’t always greener — with both PT and financially elsewhere.

FWIW, Boals did follow Malique Ewin when he re-entered the portal after the committing to USF from Ole Miss. Michael Folarin (Nevada, didn’t play a season ago) is another guy I noticed Lee and Boals recently followed. The roster is likely what it is, but the staff seems to be still keeping a pulse and doing diligence.

Even if some players were simply shown the door, how does this math even math? Teams still need to fill their rosters. Freshman are making up that 45% gap?

I still have a wicked jumper and some eligibility left. Surely someone wants to pay for my PhD.

I think I ask this every time, but.... are there are no rules with the portal?

Buddy can leave in August and join Akron in September?

Can a professor, coach, president, admin asst or Burrito Buggy worker leave in August and work somewhere else in September?

What does this have to do with the price of eggs in China?

And no, I imagine there is something in the contract of professors and the president that say they cannot quit and move within a few weeks. Certainly no coach is quitting this week and moving to another team in September. This was fun. Thanks.
