Seems very possible that our 6’7 wing type could to come from D2.

Add Khalid Gates of Slippery Rock.

Austin Peay transfer Elijah Hutchins-Everett tells that he has heard from the following:

Vanderbilt, Virginia, East Carolina, Santa Clara, Seton Hall, UAB, St. Louis, Tulsa, Loyola Chicago, + several more.

6’11 big averaged 11.5ppg & 6.1rbs.

-------------------------------------------------------

**Vandy is at their schollie limit if everybody except Stute doesn't portal.

Unless "several more" includes Ohio, we are not in the running.

Tulsa actually signed a top forward out of middle TN this year...don't sleep on them. The kid went with Tulsa over Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc.

If we do indeed have 0 portal entries, it would be a huge endorsement of Boals as a coach and leader to have every player content to stay in this environment. Still seems unlikely to play out that way.

My checking of the portal this morning still yields no Bobcats *knock on wood*

A little surprised as well we haven’t had anyone enter the portal yet. However, unless Boals is having “you’ll get more PT/have a bigger role elsewhere” convos; I feel like anyone outside of Jaylin, AJB, EJ4, and Miles, is likely finding themselves in a no different or a lesser situation than they’re currently in. So, maybe it isn’t all that surprising?

Have to think Boals and staff are doing everything they can to keep the guard foursome happy/content.

I think if anything this is a testament to the appeal of green and white in the MAC. Evidence: no EMU players in the portal either!

Spring break is over so I would hope by now, Boals and staff have at least had the conversation with certain players that maybe it is best to look for opportunities elsewhere, if he feels that way. As I've said before, I don't see a single scholarship player on our roster that clearly should move on. If someone like Olumide entered the portal, I'd be very surprised if another D1 school pursues him. He has yet to accomplish much and he'd be just another warm body along with hundreds of others. His best opportunity is probably to stay put with a program invested in his success.

Apologies if this has been brought up - BUT Sean Moore from FDU... really impressive this tournament.

You wanna talk about a WORKER. 6'4", zero stars out of Columbus, goes D2, ends up at FDU - 7 points 4.6 rebounds. Plays tough while guarding 7'4" Zach Edey. Tough defender (was DPoW a couple times), likes to get in there and get some boards.

Think he would bring a toughness and a defensive mindset to the back-court that is pretty much all flash. He can also shift into the 2/3/4 spot B-Rod occupies, maybe help with some of the rebounding we're gonna miss with DW3 gone.

Has a 3.0 so we know he can get in.

except he already has his 1 free transfer, and he's playing for the guy who gave him a shot in DII ball.

FWIW, Lamar started following the kid on social. Could just be because of his recent success. Looking at both Boals and Lamar’s activity; Boals seems to be targeting the bigs and Lamar seems to be targeting the wings based on who they’ve each been recently following.

Great minds think a like. BTC =\= a great mind.

Welp, the guy who gave Sean Moore his shot in DII ball is GONE. Replacing Pitino at Iona.

Now is the time to pounce.

As both a Bobcat and a Knight, I would love to see it.

But, knowing the coach ,he may be taking him with him.

He might - but I think you only get ONE free transfer? Google told me D2 to D1 still counts as one transfer, but I saw another article about football that said this was only D1 to D1.

None of these rules make sense anymore, and I don't know anything about this kid - but his parents can watch him play every game in Athens. Rochester NY will be a little more tough.

This is a good find, FJC.

Kid was a JUCO All American - 15.6 points / 7.8 rebounds / 1 block

Transferred to Slippery Rock.

Quick internet search seems like a nice player. Especially in this portal world. Would be a nice add to our arsenal of guards. He was only listed at 6'5" in JUCO though. Wonder if SR was lying? I laugh, but *something* is keeping him from getting a lot of mid-major looks.

Moving up still counts as a transfer - or at least it used to. Moving down does not.

We need to get a center in a heavier weight class like Miami's big!

Yea, I wonder if there’s a height discrepancy with him. He’s also awful shooting the three (19%). That said, I do think it’s encouraging that 20+ win programs this last year like UNCW and Towson are interested.

He’d be an interesting add in tandem with a big to complement the guard play we have.

High major talent, but I can't help but see red flags. Look at his timeline from what I can gather

2019-20: Rhodes High School
2020-21: Cleveland Heights
2021-22: I found information on him being involved with something called Speights Academy, Denver Prep, and the Skill Factory
2022-23: Transferring after playing 18 games as a true freshman but performing well on a per game basis

Obviously I don't know the circumstances behind any of this movement but it seems like someone who has one foot out the door at all times, as a lot of these players are starting to. Kinda like a Rio Adams.

Wofford grad transfer BJ Mack (earlier in this thread)
is down to 10 schools, per his IG:

LSU
Florida
Arkansas
Iowa
Butler
Xavier
Mississippi State
Vanderbilt
Michigan
South Carolina

Looks like he won't be a Bobcat.

As already mentioned, Vandy is at their schollie limit. For now. Could change after the NIT ends? Great school if you have the grades to get into grad school there which requires amazing academic ability.
