Maurice N'dour at home against Valpo. I know one user has the pic as their profile pic but he rose up way above the rim and threw the hammer down.

Or this one vs. UMass.

That was a monster. Even more impressive because the lob was a little behind him, Natureboy may have shattered the back board had the pass been better.

BTW, how's that for a non conference slate? Home games vs WVU and Lamar Odom's Rhode Island Rams.

The Jaaron Simmons dunk was a regular season game during winter break against Urbana. I think I did see it on Twitter briefly, so unless you were there, that one is lost in time.

Some of my favorites I saw in the Convo in person.

-Terren Harbut over two Marshall defenders first round of the MAC Tournament 2005
-Fears and-1 breakaway slam over EKU's current head coach 2005
-Tillman not one but two fast break alley oops second half against Akron 2007
-Orr over NMSU, with video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf1x2zoZLkM
-Freshman Devaughn windmill vs BGSU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxkAlBYub0A
-Reggie over Treadwell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b477AN_xkg
-Walt Offutt and-1 poster against Oakland. I think it was his only dunk of his career
-Mo alley oop on UMass
-Jason Carter and-1 facial on Taevion Kinsey

Leave it to shabamon to share all the details while I had a hard time remembering specific dunks. With help from all of you reminding me of so many, I now have to say my favorite was JP's follow-up dunk from a few years ago.

What about Devaughn's v. Georgetown in NCAA 1st-round upset off an ally-oop from DJ? Or was it already mentioned in this thread?

shabamon, didn't Tillman (freshman year?) have a memorable dunk at Maryland?

Believe the image of that DVW dunk was the image used on front page of USA Today the next morning.

I should just be the post-2005 team historian.

Tillman had two posters over Bombale Osby at Maryland. It was his junior year. Tillman had only one dunk his freshman year - a home loss vs Kent State.

Devaughn's alley against Georgetown gets my vote for the most famous dunk in Ohio history.

The Washington Gtown dunk picture still hangs in J-Bar to this day. That Keely dunk was just nasty

Too bad L.C. doesn't do basketball statistics. I'd like to see a stat with what percent of the time does the team with a "monster dunk" actually win the game. I guess that one is hard because "monster dunk" is a little subjective. In football, I've seen a stat that a team that has a safety scored against them loses the game at something like 65 percent of the time. But, a safety is an objective measure, unlike "monster dunk." But, if L.C. was a basketball fan, I bet he'd figure out a way to come up with this stat!

[For the sarcastic impaired, the above has a modicum of sarcasm laced with a smidgen of reality.]

You all ignored my vote so I must post a link. It isn't the style or strength of it just the timing and finesse, I love it.

If we are saying that a dunk is worth more than two points because it is demoralizing I don't know but I don't see any indication there that a safety is. 65% seems reasonable or even kind of low. I mean a safety is only worth 2 and a TD is worth, usually, 7 because it comes paired with an extra point but if you score a TD you give up the ball. If you get a safety you get the ball in good field position so the swing for a safety is close to the same.

Now, it probably is not true that teams that score a TD win 65% of the time because it is a common play. But if you phased it such as teams that score the first TD, or the last TD, or even the 2nd or 3rd TD to single it out as a specific event as a safety usually is then, sure, 65% or more seems reasonable.

I don't know about the dunk but I know how math analysis studies on momentum usually go. Its usually pretty hard to find. I'd bet might find that a dunk is effectively worth slightly more than a typical 2 point basket but not two 2 point baskets.

Lots of excellent dunkers and dunks over the last 40+ years that I've been watching games in the Convo. I can't pick the best dunk I remember from an Ohio player, but I remember the most exciting one for me.

Maurice N'Dour caught a full court pass from Tony Campbell near the foul line and slammed it home right at the buzzer to beat Buffalo. The play started with just 3 seconds or so.

If the conversation involves dunks at the Convocation Center then the sentence better include Ball State's Chandler Thompson.

Goodness. I can’t be the only one here on this board who saw Chandler Thompson dunk a basketball at the Convocation Center?

I was here for this Jon Sanderson dunk during Winning Team/Losing Team to close out a game.

There’s Gary Trent and his seemingly epic dunk every game and then … everyone else ….

And everyone else is an impressive list.

Didn’t Geno Ford throw one off the glass for a Trent dunk?

It wouldn't have been in my era. I can't remember anyone dunking, ever. The refs would call a technical if you merely grasped the rim, even if you had to save yourself from an undercut. So, coaches didn't want anyone dunking.

Had to dig deep into my archives for Cleveland State's Marlin Mason posterizing Wadley in the 2014 CIT.

I was actually participating in that pick-up game, it was totally bizarre. I was glad I was not the target of the assault.
